Diane Gibson Essay Awards Contest for High School Students

Two $500 Awards To be presented at the Society's National Assembly
May 2013 in Richmond, VA

Who May Enter: High School Students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th Grades. Each applicant must submit a letter
of proof of enrollment or status in the appropriate grade from a teacher or from a home school parent or guardian.

What To Enter: An Essay. Each entrant must write an essay on the history or impact of the Huguenots in Colonial America, the Colony of Virginia, or the settlement at Manakintowne, Virginia.

How To Enter: Essay must be a minimum of five (5) double-spaced text pages. Essays must have separate numbered endnotes and a bibliography.
Deadline: April 1, 2013.

Submission: Two Typed Copies and an Email Copy.

Essays will be judged by a History Committee of the Manakin Huguenot Society.
The two $500 Awards will be paid directly to the two individual winners for whatever use of the funds they so desire. The Society reserves the right to first publication of the winning essays in the Society publication, The Huguenot. Each essay author will retain all other literary rights in their manuscript.
