The Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia announces its
annual scholarship awards,
to be presented at the National Assembly, June 2017, Richmond, VA

WHO MAY ENTER:


College and Graduate Students

All applicants must submit proof that they are either currently enrolled or have been accepted to a college or university. High school seniors must send a copy of a letter of acceptance from their college or university. Students currently enrolled in a college or university must send a copy of their latest transcript or a letter of recommendation by one of their professors.

WHAT TO ENTER:

An Essay

Each entrant must write an essay on the history and/or impact of the Huguenots in Europe, Colonial America, the Colony of Virginia or the settlement at Manakintowne, Virginia.

HOW TO ENTER:

The essays must be at least ten (10) pages. It should have footnotes or endnotes and bibliography (including any Internet sources)

DEADLINE:

April 1, 2017

SUBMISSION:

Two typed copies. Entries generated on a computer should include a disk.

The $2500 awards will be paid directly to the individual winners for use in further education. The Society reserves the right to first publication of the winning essays, in the publication, The Huguenot. The author will retain all other literary rights in the manuscript.

DIANE GIBSON ESSAY AWARDS for High School Students


Two $500 Awards to be presented at the National Assembly, June, 2017, Richmond VA.

WHO MAY ENTER:

High School Students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. Each applicant must submit a letter of proof of enrollment or status in the appropriate grade from a teacher, a home school parent, or guardian.

WHAT TO ENTER:

An Essay on the history or impact of Huguenots in Colonial America or Manakintowne, VA.

HOW TO ENTER:


Essay must be a a minimum of five (5) double-spaced text pages. Essays must have a separate numbered endnotes and bibliography (including Web sources)

Submit two typed copies and an e-mail copy.
